Description

This course helps managers learn how to effectively coach individuals through a process of:

  • observation,
  • analysis and
  • communication.

By carefully planning one-on-one discussions, managers can have the greatest impact and gain individual commitment to achieving results.

Throughout the workshop, managers will review:

  • video presentations and case studies,
  • participate in group discussions,
  • practice new skills and
  • receive immediate feedback.

Managers leave the workshop with implementation tools, troubleshooting guides and additional resources to help them apply the skills they have learned on the job.

Topics included in the 1-day workshop includes the following areas of focus:

  • Create a Climate of Open Communication
  • Design Clear, Concise Messages
  • Manage Non-Verbal Behaviours Effectively
  • Listen to Communicate

We are pleased to offer the third of eight modules for this certificate course!  Once complete a Supervisor Certificate will be issued by Sault College.  Take the series or individually (no certificate if all 8 modules not registered for).

Speaker Biography

Katherine G. MacRae – Born and raised in Toronto, Katherine has worked as an aircraft mechanic as well as an independent licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) on De Havilland and Boeing Company Aircraft and on corporate business jets at the Calgary and Vancouver airports.

 
Moving to Sault Ste. Marie in 1998, Katherine has served as a Board Director for the Sault Ste. Marie Airport Development Corporation, Chair of the Multi Modal Committee, a BizMap Competition Judge, Skills Canada-Ontario Mentor to young women, and as a volunteer Leadership Trainer for United Way in addition to providing volunteer services and workshops for many other local non-profit organizations.
 
Katherine was the Founder and Organizer of the Ride for the Cure motorcycle rally fundraiser that raised approximately $80,000 over its 5 year stint in Sault Ste. Marie, for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. 
 
Her company, SuccessBiz Inc. offering Success Coaching and Corporate Leadership Training. Katherine has been a regular contract trainer for Sault College facilitating her own ‘Coaching & Communicating for Success’© program as well as courses in the Manufacturing Leadership and Ontario management Development Certificate Programs.
 
She publishes a Success Strategies Column for Sootoday.com and Baytoday.ca community websites. She is also the President and Founder of the SuccessBiz Women’s Network, a monthly networking membership club supporting local business women, now in its fourth year.
 
Katherine holds diplomas in Aircraft Maintenance Technician, Business Management and is a graduate of the Coach Ville Graduate School of Coaching.
 
Katherine was honoured with the 2007 Business Professional Women’s ‘Woman of the Week Award’ in recognition of International Women's Day, and was also presented with the ATHENA AWARD in October 2008, an internationally recognized award, presented to an individual who is recognized for their professional excellence, for providing valuable service to their community and for actively assisting women in attainment of their professional goals and leadership skills.
 
Katherine was elected to the Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce Board in 2006 and as Chair of the Government Relations Committee and Education & Training Committee. Katherine served as President of the Chamber of Commerce for the 2008/2009 year, and is now serving as Immediate Past President for the Chamber and liaison Board Member on the Economic Development Committee (EDC) for the City.
 

Most recently, Katherine is now the proud Publisher of Our Homes Sault Ste. Marie & Algoma, - a full gloss, full colour, quarterly magazine dedicated to showcasing home life and local businesses within Sault Ste. Marie and the Algoma District, while stimulating economic business activity within the Algoma District
