COURSE DESCRIPTION: Applied Projects is a systematic "fill in the blanks" type approach to encourage positive change and innovation within an organization. This 12-hour in class course is supplemented with a 90 hour on the job practicum. During the practicum, students will undertake a work unit project from initial identification to implementation. Students will be required to seek out a mentor to supervise the practicum and will complete a short report for evaluation.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES/OUTCOMES: Upon successful completion of this course:
• Participants will be provided with guidelines, tools and approaches to complete an effective work-based project.
• Participants will learn to effectively document and present a project to their workplace for consideration.
• Participants will learn to use a simple, step-by-step model to use when looking at issues, concerns or opportunities which require analysis, investigation and decision making.
• Participants review a number of sample problems and criteria for an effective project.
• Participants will complete and document a comprehensive workplace project.
