This course runs for 1.5 days. The 1/2 day session is scheduled for Oct. 27, 2010 from 8:30 am - 12:30 pm.
Effective project management enables managers to identify and work with the key variables that impact how projects are defined, planned and implemented. This course also focuses on the interpersonal skills that managers must use to win and maintain the commitment, enthusiasm and support of the project team.
Welcome to the new world of management work. It's no longer about “sweating the small stuff” because most of the small stuff is no longer a manager's responsibility. Those day-to-day tasks have been replaced with project work that takes weeks or months to complete. Managers now lead, or are part of, project teams that are responsible for projects with a direct and significant connection to the bottom line. This course will provide an introduction to a common project management process and language based on the PMI Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) and will develop skills and strategies for working within the organizational structure, with diverse project team members, and across business units.
This 12-hour workshop is divided into 4 modules:
Getting Started - the big picture, success factors, and goals.
Getting Ready - defining resources, roles, and responsibilities.
Building An Action Plan - aligning resources, roles, and responsibilities.
Executing and Closing - monitoring, control, and completion. |
